Connect Gmail, Zoho Mail or another mailbox
Connect the mailbox your campaign emails go out from: Gmail or Zoho Mail in one click, or any other mailbox with its SMTP details.
Last updated
FollowThroo sends campaign emails from your own mailbox, so they arrive from your address and replies come back to you. Connect it once in Settings, then Mailboxes & domains. Gmail and Zoho Mail connect with one click; any other mailbox connects with its server details (SMTP).
Gmail or Zoho Mail
- Open Settings, then Mailboxes & domains.
- Click Connect Gmail (one click, no password) or Connect Zoho Mail (one click, no password).
- Sign in on Google's or Zoho's own page and allow access. FollowThroo never sees your password.
- You come back to FollowThroo and the mailbox is listed. Campaigns can now send from it, and FollowThroo reads it for replies.
Any other mailbox (SMTP)
SMTP is the standard way programs send email. Under Connect a mailbox you already have, fill in the details your email provider gives you:
- Sender Email, and optionally Custom From Name, the name people see.
- SMTP Host and SMTP Port, with Connection Security: SSL/TLS (Port 465) or STARTTLS (Port 587/25).
- Username and Password / App Password. Many providers want an app password, a separate password you create in your email account's security settings, instead of your normal one.
Test the connection, then save.
Good to know
- Each plan includes a number of mailboxes: 1 on Test Drive and Start, 2 on Grow and 5 on Scale.
- Each person sends from mailboxes they connected themselves. Teammates can't send as you.
- Deleting a mailbox stops the campaigns that use it until you choose another.
- FollowThroo reads the mailbox only for mail about your leads. See Inbox and Outbox.
- Campaign email goes out within your sending hours and limits. See Email sending limits, warm-up and sending hours.
If something goes wrong
- The Email card in Channels says Reconnect needed.
- The mailbox can no longer sign in, usually after a password change or when access was removed in Google or Zoho. It isn't sending or reading replies. Connect it again the same way.
- The SMTP details are refused.
- Check the host and port, and that the security matches them: 465 with SSL/TLS, 587 with STARTTLS. Use an app password if your provider asks for one.
- Attachments don't send from Zoho Mail.
- Zoho Mail doesn't support attachments yet. See Attach files to email templates.
