Email sending limits, warm-up and sending hours

How many emails FollowThroo sends per mailbox, why it spaces them out, how warm-up works, and what happens when a limit is reached.

Last updated

FollowThroo paces campaign email so your mailbox stays in good standing: it sends only during your sending hours, leaves time between emails, and stops for the day at each mailbox's limit. Anything held back waits and goes later. It is never skipped.

Limits per mailbox

  • Email providers cap how much one mailbox may send. Google allows about 500 emails a day from a free Gmail account and 2,000 from Google Workspace; other providers set their own.
  • FollowThroo keeps an hourly and a daily limit for each mailbox, and leaves 30 to 90 seconds between emails.
  • When a limit is reached, the rest wait until it allows again. A campaign to many people therefore goes out over hours or days.

Sending hours

Campaign email only goes out during your workspace's sending hours: 9 AM to 7 PM India time, Monday to Saturday, until an owner or admin changes them in Settings, then Mailboxes & domains, under Sending hours. Choose the days, the hours and the time zone of the people you write to.

Warm-up

A new mailbox or domain has no sending history, and mail providers trust it slowly. Warm-up builds that history: your workspace's own mailboxes send each other short, ordinary emails, starting at 2 a day and rising to the daily target over 21 days. FollowThroo checks whether they land in the inbox or in spam, and moves any that land in spam to the inbox.

  • You can switch warm-up on when you set up a sending domain in Mailboxes & domains.
  • Warm-up emails only go between your own mailboxes, never to leads.
  • Deliverability shows warm-up inbox placement, sending volume and bounce rate. It is included from the Start plan.

If emails are slow to go out

A campaign sent only some of its emails today.
The mailbox reached its daily limit, or sending hours ended. The rest go out in the next window.
Nothing went out after launching in the evening.
It's outside sending hours. Emails start when they next open.
Emails land in spam.
Send fewer emails a day from each mailbox, warm up new mailboxes, and keep an eye on the bounce rate in Deliverability. See Bounces, unsubscribes and opt-outs.
