Why a LinkedIn post didn't publish
What each LinkedIn publishing error in FollowThroo means, how to fix it, and how to retry a failed post without rewriting it.
Last updated
When LinkedIn doesn't accept a post, FollowThroo marks it Failed in Posts, keeps its text and image, and tells you why in the bell. Nothing is retried on its own. Fix the cause, then click Retry on the post, and it goes back on the schedule straight away.
Errors and what to do
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "LinkedIn rejected the stored credentials. Reconnect your account." | Your LinkedIn sign-in for posting expired or was removed | In Channels, then LinkedIn, click Connect LinkedIn, then Retry |
| "No LinkedIn account connected." | LinkedIn isn't connected for posting | Connect it the same way, then Retry |
| "FollowThroo's LinkedIn publishing integration needs an API update. Your post was not published." | LinkedIn stopped supporting the version of its system FollowThroo used. The problem is on our side, not your account | Don't reconnect. Retry once we say it's fixed, or write to support |
| "LinkedIn refused the post" with a number | LinkedIn turned this post down | Check the text and image, then Retry. If it happens again, send support the number |
| "LinkedIn refused the image upload" | LinkedIn didn't accept the image | Try a smaller JPEG or PNG, then Retry |
| "Couldn't attach the image" | FollowThroo couldn't read the uploaded image | Upload the image again, then Retry |
Other reasons a post didn't go out
- A draft under Needs review passed its time.
- An autopilot draft that nobody approved before its slot is skipped. It stays in your list; schedule or publish it yourself.
- Channels shows LinkedIn as Expires soon or Reconnect needed.
- Your sign-in for posting is ending or has ended, so scheduled posts can't publish. Reconnect before it runs out.
- An autopilot wrote nothing.
- There weren't enough credits, or the writer failed. You're told in the bell, and it tries again at its next slot.
A post is never published twice: FollowThroo marks it as publishing before it contacts LinkedIn, so two attempts at the same moment can't both send it.
